I’m gonna give you a little background about this woman. She’s a content creator and over the last year I’ve been focusing on creating online offers: courses, workshops, group discussions, and live chats. With her permission, this week I’m going to share a bit of advice she got from me while creating her last bit of amazingness.
I feel amazing in the movement of creation, not following someone else’s rules, going for it, believing amazing things will happen from this creation. Then I get to my challenge, and, I keep repeatedly coming back to this, every cycle, every year I’ve been trying to create something new. My challenge is with not feeling like the outcome I want is possible. I’m just not feeling the outcome. I quickly get back into a rut. I get back in my head and body and I’m like “nah, I ain’t feeling this.” Then I get frustrated cuz I’m not “feeling” this. I want to physically feel the outcome. I want to get into the excitement of that outcome and do the work in that feeling.
So that when I do the work I feel good about it cuz it gets me closer to this outcome.
I know that things don’t have to be perfect to manifest.
You don’t have to be perfectly healed with no limiting beliefs with perfect alignment to make good things.
You just work through the messy stuff. And still, I get dragged in this rut when I can’t feel the outcome or get a good feeling about the outcome.
Do I have more healing to do?
Do I have more blocks to get rid of?
Do I have confidence I need to work on?
I’m sick of feeling like something is in the way I have to work on before I can get the feeling...and keep working
The first thing I thought about was a piece of advice I received from Sarah Centrella. In her book #futureboards, she talks about manifesting, and what to do when you feel like nothing is happening.
What do you do when you feel like nothing is happening?
Continuing doing stuff when it feels like nothing is happening.
If you are doing the work, trust that something is happening, even if you can see or feel it.
Your version of this is:
If I can’t feel it, then it’s not the right thing.
Your frustration comes when you’re like “I really like this, this is awesome, I enjoy this” and then you have a different feeling and you think “because I can’t feel the overt joy in this, I’m on the wrong path.”
I believe feelings can be incredibly insightful! However, sometimes work is just...work. Creating is just, putting pen to paper and getting shit done.
There is research and organizing and investing money. We forget that owning a business, or being a creator, isn’t all sexy. In fact, a lot of it is very very unsexy. Your mind is focusing so much on the sexy parts, which is the bling bling outcome of all your hard work, and getting upset about the fact that - in order to get to bling bling sexy outcome, you gotta be oatmeal for breakfast and the same dirty joggers on the creation grindstone.
If you’re experiencing this on a regular basis, every season or every cycle or every project you take on, that means that it’s not your intuition being helpful, it’s your ego, and it’s sabotaging you with a false sense of “not feeling”
Just because you don’t feel it down doesn’t mean it’s not right.
AND - Doesn’t mean you won’t feel it in the future.
Ego, very similar to imposter syndrome, likes to keep you cozy inside your comfort zone.
They do the same thing but in two different ways:
Where your imposters make you feel like you’re unworthy, undeserving, a fake or a phony,
Your ego like to say “hey, we’ve been chillin’ here and everything is good. Why you gotta stir the pot with something new? We got everything we need, we’re good, leave all that noise out there alone.” Then - it takes away your feelings. It takes away your excitement for something new, exploration, creation, the possibility of growth because it believes you’ve done all you need to do and you’re good!
Your ego takes your joy, then fixates on something way far ahead - the outcome.
Then makes you fear a bad outcome so that you don’t venture to keep trying.
You lose the joy, gain the doubt, it drags your motivation and you stop.
This is your form of self-sabotage:You get excited about something. Then you get caught in the details of how it’s gonna be created (vs just creating it) or you can’t feel the outcome (of something you haven’t created yet) and so you stop yourself before you even actually get started or even get deep into its creation. (self-fulfilling doubt, thanks you ego jerk.) You let all that take away from the good that you are creating or experiencing and then replace it (put these blocks in front of yourself) with so much negativity that you don’t wanna work anymore.
But...you still have a whole process to go through.
You’re putting shit in your way of the process of creation.
It’s a block. And I encourage you to let it fucking go.
Drop your need to feel and outcome and GET INTO THE PROCESS
You may not be able to feel the outcome because you haven’t created anything yet.
You’re still in the joy of learning! And then you’re gonna create. And then the feeling of your outcome will come.
Why are you stressing about it now? Because all it’s doing is causing you worry.
Worry is literally manifesting everything you don’t want.
So...you’re worrying about not feeling the outcome of something you haven’t created yet and it’s robbing you of the joy of what you’re learning and will come to create...and then manifesting not feeling, or experiencing, a positive outcome.
When you worry, you don’t work.
You are manifesting not creating this.
You are manifesting feeling shitty while trying to create it
Instead of focusing on the joy of learning and creating it.
You are putting blocks in the way of creating it
Which - baby!! - will very likely also bring you joy!
And the joy you feel from creating it will bring about more joyful feelings of an outcome.
So just - STOP - BLOCKIN’ - YA - BLESSINS
Just put it down. Put it down for now.
If worrying of manifesting everything you don’t want,
What is the opposite of worrying?
And trust will help you manifest everything you do want.
In this case, trusting this process. The process of learning, followed by creating, followed by projecting outcomes. That’s the journey and...you’re in the first handful of steps right now.
Stop focusing 25 steps ahead and saying “I can’t see it from here” it’s like,
NO SHIT, you got 25 steps between you and that end point. You’re on step 3 and that tunnel is kinda long, or probably curvy, so yea, you don’t see the light at the end. How about you do these next 20 steps and then when you get 5 steps from the outcome - you’ll see it, feel it.
It’s just a new block you gotta move to the side
and go back to the stuff that brings you joy!
FYI - this journey, the process, it’s gonna have a lot of challenges, struggles, setbacks, etc. That’s the journey of a content creator and teacher. You don’t need to be putting your own blocks in the way of yourself. Save that energy for when that shit comes up on it’s own.
